Top 5 Tuesday: Cozy Winter Reads

Unbelievable, isn’t it? The first Tuesday has arrived causing December to pass very swiftly. I have been already getting Winter and Christmas vibes with decorations and presents all around me. Coming from the Northern part of India, I have to admit that the winters are becoming cold. On chilly nights, I curl up inside a fuzzy blanket with my favorite reads and some hot chocolate giving me company. The paramount urge to read books that are filled with friendliness, warmth and familial love is what describes my winter holidays. So, I presumed it would be the perfect timing to pen down my all time favorite cozy books I return to every winter. While scrolling through WordPress Reader, I came across the weekly Top 5 Tuesday post by the very lovely Rachael from Beach Bookworm featuring her cozy reads which complemented my thoughts so I decided to give this a try. This tag is originally hosted by Shanah @ Bionic Book Worm.

  • Harry Potter and The Chamber of Secrets

The first book has to be the Harry Potter and the Chamber of Secrets. My traditional Hogwarts journey kicks off around Halloween and ends around Christmas. This book is a one-stop read for embracing friendship, honesty, and family. The Weasely’s are full of the familial warmth I long for around the holidays. Keeping the cliche of adding the Harry Potter series to cozy reads aside, I feel these books( & the films) actually are best read(& watched) in winters.

  • The Fellowship of the Ring

Never will it happen that I spend my holidays without the LOTR books or films especially the Fellowship of the Ring. The first part of the series is very close to my heart and reminds me of the sweet taste of companionship and valiance. My re-reading of the books & marathoning of the films starts with Baggins Birthday Bash in September making me in a Tolkieny mood all through winters.

  • Pride and Prejudice

I insanely and solely admire classics with Pride and Prejudice being one of my many favorites. I include this book because there is something heartwarming about it. Mr. Darcy, a person of honest and suave disposition makes me want to spend the Christmas embracing my loved ones.

  • The Room on the Roof

Ruskin Bond is one of my childhood favorites. My mother used to read his short stories to me especially during my winter holidays. I have so many fond childhood memories of this book and I return to this for the same innocence and kindness it once had thereby re-living the child in me.

  • Sense and Sensibility

Lastly, I throw in Sense and Sensibility sometimes because it’s a sweet story where two sisters embark upon a journey of discovering themselves together. I bond with my sister over this story as I buddy read this with her around the holidays.

That’s all for today my fellow book nerds! I am aware that my list is a blend of both light and heavy reads and not solely radiating a holiday feel asI feel holidays are truly about embracing whatever you have with your loved ones. Deep down, I have a soft corner for these books and really connect with them on some level. I hope I am able to reach out to you in some way with this list.

Thank you for taking out time and reading. I would love to hear your winter reads.

Happy (Cozy) Reading!
